Life and work are all about perspectives, sometimes quite literally. Recently, two of our software engineers got their hands on a drone and decided it was time for a new look at their work environment.

Their short video shows a birds’ eye-view of our dog friendly Versasec facility in Merseburg, Germany, where we conduct much of our research and development. For those who are not familiar with it, Merseburg is in the south German state of Saxony-Anhalt. The scenic town lies along the river Saale, and it is part of the greater Leipzig region.

In addition to being a great collaboration and ideation point for the Versasec team in Germany, Merseburg is also home to Hochschule Merseburg (which translates to the Merseburg University of Applied Sciences). In fact, you can see much of the school’s grounds in the Versasec drone video.

Having our research facilities located in a University town means Versasec occasionally has opportunities to work with the school and its students. For example, in recent years Versasec staff helped a Master’s degree student working on his thesis, and has worked with the university’s labs to test new Versasec solutions on its equipment. It’s also worth noting that our esteemed CTO, Joerg Dettmann, is a graduate of Hochschule Merseburg. We hope to hire more graduates from the University in the coming years.

Working in a University town certainly broadens our view. And now, we hope you’ll enjoy this different perspective of our operations, courtesy of our team members Oliver Oertel, Senior Software Engineer, and Joerg (although those paying close attention may have noticed the pair were assisted by Ellie, Joerg’s pup, also known on-site as the CTO’s assistant)!

Note: The video was captured using a DJI Mini 2 drone.
