Ascending to new heights of CSR
Today, I am pleased to announce that Micro Focus is joining over 80 companies who have pledged their support to North American-based Ascend’s COVID-19 Action Agenda. Micro Focus joins the ranks of Goldman Sachs & Co, Bank of America, Deloitte, The Coca Cola Company, Facebook, Procter & Gamble, Uber, Pfizer and many more global companies to help accelerate progress in the fight against bias.
Ascend, along with nine other organizations, are pledging to combat stigma and all forms of discrimination based on age, color, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation and veteran status. The Action Agenda aims to provide a framework for helping raise awareness and combat bias on a global level. It includes 5 key areas:
– Promoting Inclusion: Advocate for a diverse and inclusive workplace and society.
– Raising Awareness: Highlight the unique impacts of COVID-19 on vulnerable groups.
– Denouncing Bias: Encourage individuals to report virus-linked discriminatory acts against Pan-Asians and other targeted groups and communities in the workplace and in public.
– Supporting Communities: Contribute time, knowledge and / or other resources to aid frontline workers, COVID-19 victims and families.
– Giving Donations: Provide funds and / or other resources to support vulnerable populations of people and impacted businesses.
This initiative directly correlates with our Corporate Social Responsibility program, Micro Focus INSPIRE, which we announced last week. With Micro Focus INSPIRE, our mission is to cover multiple aspects of what it means to be a socially and environmentally responsible global enterprise, from how we manage our relationships with employees, suppliers and customers to how we use our presence in the market to help positively impact the communities that we serve. We do all of this with the goal of helping employees, partners and communities get access to the right skills to thrive in the continually evolving digital future.
The safety of our employees and their families, our customers, and our partners is of utmost importance to Micro Focus, and we are pleased to be able to pledge our support to Ascend and the broader Action Agenda initiative like we do with many other employee resource groups, both internally and externally, so that we can work across our teams and communities to eradicate bias. Micro Focus INSPIRE is one of the programs I am most proud to be a part of at Micro Focus as it focuses on the people and who we are as a company, the values we hold, and the commitments we are willing to make to important topics like inclusion and diversity, and ethics and values. You can learn more about some of the commitments we have already made aligned to the 5-Point Action Agenda though the Micro Focus INSPIRE external press release.
