NAKIVO Backup & Replication v10 Beta: What’s New?
June 18, 2020
At NAKIVO, we’re excited to reach this new milestone with version 10 beta of NAKIVO Backup & Replication. Each new version adds features and capabilities as requested by our ever-growing base of users. And as always we rely on our active NAKIVO community to test and send feedback so we can further improve the new functionality.
We bet there’s at least one feature in NAKIVO Backup & Replication v10 Beta that you would want to try. Join our Beta Program, try out the new functionality and receive a $20 Amazon eGift Card for sharing your thoughts with us.
VMware vSphere 7 Support
NAKIVO Backup & Replication v10 Beta adds support for VMware vSphere 7, the new generation of vSphere, generally available since April 2. If you’re upgrading to vSphere 7, you can take advantage of the latest functionality in vSphere and protect your VMs with NAKIVO Backup & Replication.
You get all the advanced protection capabilities available for previous vSphere versions, including backup, replication, granular recovery and disaster recovery automation and orchestration.
Backup to Wasabi
You can never have too many backup storage options! Our version 10 adds more backup destinations in the cloud with Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage, an increasingly popular cloud storage service.
Send backups and backup copies of your VMs and physical servers directly to Wasabi, and perform instant granular recovery of individual files, folders and application objects without restoring the entire backup. Fast and simple!
File System Indexing
This feature’s intriguing name speaks for itself if you put yourself in Mike’s shoes. Mike is an IT administrator of an enterprise-scale environment and he runs daily backups of hundreds of VMs. Mike needs just this one file to restore. But there’s no way he can remember which VM backup or recovery point contains that file – unsurprisingly.
Now you can enable File System Indexing in NAKIVO Backup & Replication and create an index of the files and folders in any backup. Next time, when a file is missing, you just search for it using the Global Search feature and recover it immediately.
Linux Workstation Backup
Extending physical machine support in NAKIVO Backup & Replication to Linux workstations has been in the works for quite some time. And it’s finally here. Now you can perform image-based, incremental backups of Ubuntu Linux workstations as easily as running backups for Linux or Windows servers and Windows workstations.
Why would you use this functionality instead of free, native Linux-based backup utilities? In a mixed IT environment, with multiple VMs, physical servers and workstations, managing several backup solutions adds unnecessary complexity. With an all-in-one solution allowing you to protect your entire infrastructure from a single pane of glass, you not only save time and resources but also simplify administration and enhance data safety.
Full Physical to Virtual (P2V) Recovery
If your hybrid infrastructure includes physical Windows or Linux servers, this new functionality will come in handy in at least two scenarios. First, you can use full P2V recovery to perform planned migrations of your physical workloads to VMware VMs. Second, you can use a server’s backup to recover this server as a VMware VM in the event of a disaster.
Give It a Shot!
